
Governance
Kariyarra Aboriginal Corporation is governed by a Board of Directors made up of 11 Apical Directors, representing each of Kariyarra’s Apical families. The Directors are appointed by Kariyarra members and each hold a three-year term.
Under the Corporations Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Act 2006 (CATSI Act 2006), Directors have five legal duties:
- Duty of care and diligence
- Duty of good faith
- Duty to NOT improperly use position or information
- Duty to disclose material personal interests
- Duty to NOT trade while insolvent
